Artist's statement:

Elements in Separation:

To Commemorate the Pandemic

"When social distancing I’m aware of the triangulating needed to navigate the 6-foot distance between people. In nature I find solace and reassurance. The moons remind me of steady passing of time, sunsets of fleeting beauty in the world, and flowers of growth and healing. I honor the lives lost in the pandemic by cutting tiny casket shaped pieces in a range of skin tones. The higher rates of death for people of color is reflected in the design." - Wilma Wyss

This beautiful mosaic sculpture is made from high fire tile, vitreous and glass tile, stained glass, porcelain plates, and smalti (thick colored glass originally used in Byzantine church mosaics). Each piece is cut and sanded by hand by the artist. The sculpture is constructed from a lightweight cement board that is rigid and waterproof making it weather resistant for display indoors or out.

Delivery and installation in the Bay Area included!
